Festival of Sharing Information

All you have to do is turn on the television or read the newspaper today to see how great the need is in our
country and all around the world.  But we can help.  Please consider contributing to Festival of Sharing.

Ever since the beginning of the Heart Kit Program, United Methodists have worked hand in hand with Church World
Service to assemble and ship Health Kits, School Kits and Baby Kits to many parts of the world.

Friendship Missions will be collecting items for these kits June through August.  You will see displays outside of the
Sanctuary and Thomas Family Hall.  There will be shopping lists available that you can take with you to purchase
items for these kits.  Bring your kits to church and drop them off at the display tables on Sundays.  If you would
prefer, you may make a donation specifying “Festival of Sharing” on your check and we will do the shopping for
you.  Make check out to FUMC.

Hope you will be generous with your help for this very worthwhile project.

Health Kits
For a moment imagine yourself living in an earthquake, flood or tornado area and you have lost everything.
Suppose you have lived on the streets for a number of days with nothing.  How would you feel if someone handed
you a Health Kit with the basic needs to be able to wash and groom yourself.  It’s not much but it would be a relief
to be able to wash.  How blessed are we to have all that we need?  Please consider assembling some health kits to
be given to folks in great need.

1 hand towel
1 washcloth
1 comb (wide tooth or pick) remove packaging
1 nail clipper – remove packaging
1 bar of soap (bath size) wrapped
1 individually packed toothbrush  (no toothpaste please)
6 band-aids
Package in gallon size freezer bag.

Baby Kits
Many mothers throughout the developing world are offered Baby Kits as an incentive for attending pre-natal and
child-care classes.  In time of disaster, Baby Kits are a godsend to many people housed in temporary shelters and
crowded refugee quarters.

6 cloth diapers
2 shirts
2 washcloths
2 gowns or sleepers
2 diaper pins
1 sweater of sweatshirt (T size)
2 receiving blankets
No larger than 12 month size.

School Kits
The first day of school.  New paper, new pencils, new crayons.  All because someone far away cared.  I think we
can all relate to the excitement of going to school and how wonderful it would be to have all the items you need to
get started.

1 blunt scissors
3 lined notebooks
1 metric ruler 12”
1 pencil sharpener
6 new pencils with erasers
1 large eraser
1 box of crayons (24)
1 cloth or canvas bag 12” x 14” for packaging these items.
