Philosophy and Curriculum
The philosophy of Friendship Preschool is based on current research and theory of best practices in the
field of early childhood education.

We believe that children learn best when able to engage and experiment with open-ended materials.  It is
through this and interactions with others that children construct knowledge about their world.  To that end,
an interactive curriculum that addresses the developmental needs of the whole child is implemented
through the following:

*Naturally occurring play which encourages exploration and problem solving

*Exposure to print-rich environment, which facilitates the reading and writing process

*Interactions with teachers, parents, volunteers and other children of varying cultures,
traditions, backgrounds, abilities and interests

*Participation in an environment that encourages critical and divergent thinking.

*Daily opportunities to explore art, music, science, math and literature

*Daily opportunities to engage in outdoor or indoor gross motor play

Our curriculum is written with these things in mind, as well as the Ohio Early Learning Content Standards
and Creative Curriculum Objectives.

Welcome!  Since our beginning in 1983, we have
dedicated ourselves to quality programs for children
of all faiths from 2 years old through
prekindergarten.

Our mission is to provide a safe and stimulating
environment for children which supports the social,
emotional, intellectual, and motor development of
each child enrolled!  We engage the whole child,
understanding that all areas of development are
interrelated and must be engaged together.

Our classrooms are child-centered and offer many
opportunities for children to engage in exploration,
experimentation, and problems solving.  Each
member of our staff holds a degree in education
and many have advanced degrees.

We would love for you to come in for a tour and see
what is happening at Friendship Preschool!

over 20 years experience in early childhood education. As an adjunct assistant professor for University of
Cincinnati, she teaches child development, classroom management, and curriculum courses. Lowellette has

They live in a Victorian home, and pine for a roof you can reach with a stepladder.
